The purchasing decision

A bucket-style dry bag needs enough mouth access for its intended contents and enough material to operate the closure correctly. Begin with the largest item the customer is expected to pack. Compare that item with the opening, not just the nominal capacity. A wide body is not useful if the access route is too restricted.

Review the closure as a system: reinforcement, folds, buckle orientation and the straps attached nearby. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the approved closing sequence with the packing example. Do not prescribe a universal number of folds from another product; use the instructions and evaluation agreed for the selected construction.

For a custom collection, confirm the visible branding area after closing. A logo placed too close to the mouth may be partly hidden during normal use. Check the final silhouette, carrying balance and whether accessories can interfere with the closure. Those observations are more useful than judging the bag only when it is open and empty.

Include these details in your enquiry

  • Largest intended item and packing example
  • Closure drawing and operating instructions
  • Buckle orientation and adjacent straps
  • Logo position on the closed body

Identify the model and the version of any drawing or artwork. Ask for assumptions, proposed changes, packing details and commercial terms to be shown in the quotation. MOQ, sample cost and production timing are confirmed for the agreed configuration.

Buyer questions

Can I use the instructions from a different bucket bag?

Use the instructions agreed for the chosen model. Reinforcement and closure geometry can differ.

Why review the bag after closing?

The closed shape affects usable packing, carry balance and the visible artwork area. An open sample does not reveal all of those details.
