The purchasing decision
Retail packaging should describe the bag the customer actually receives. Confirm the model name, included straps or accessories and the meaning of any capacity or dimensions printed on the pack. Photographic props and optional features should not quietly become part of the promised contents.
Prepare the information layout around the selected retail format. A hanging pouch, sleeve and folded-box presentation provide different space for barcode, artwork and instructions. Review the complete packed sample for readability, product visibility and pressure on closures or windows. Coordinate any destination-market labelling review with the buyer’s requirements.
Keep pack artwork under the same revision discipline as the bag. A new closure or size can make an old instruction panel inaccurate even when the logo stays the same. Maintain a SKU schedule linking product revision, barcode and packaging version, then check outer-carton identification against that schedule before shipment.
What to compare before ordering
| Decision | Review with the supplier | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Information | Model, contents, dimensions and capacity basis. | Match the approved product. |
| Physical pack | Visibility, fit and instruction space. | Review the complete unit. |
| Revision control | Product, barcode and artwork version. | Prevent outdated packs on new models. |
Include these details in your enquiry
- Included accessory and product-information list
- Retail pack drawing and artwork
- Instruction and destination-market label requirements
- SKU, barcode and carton-mark schedule
Identify the model and the version of any drawing or artwork. Ask for assumptions, proposed changes, packing details and commercial terms to be shown in the quotation. MOQ, sample cost and production timing are confirmed for the agreed configuration.
Buyer questions
Can packaging be approved before the product is final?
